Seosan (Daesan) Hwanggeumsan Mountain is a small mountain at an altitude of 156 meters on the coast of Dokgot-ri, Daesan-eup, Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. At Hwanggeumsan, you can enjoy the sea and mountains of Mongolia’s beaches. At the top of Hwanggeumsan Mountain, there is Imgyeongeop Shrine, and on the coast there are Mongdol Beach and Elephant Rock. Hwanggeumsan Mountain is also famous for its scallops, so it’s a good place to stop by a scallop restaurant.

The hiking trail starts from the Hwanggeumsan parking lot, passes through the top of Hwanggeumsan Mountain, Mongdol Beach, Elephant Rock, the summit, Gulgeum, and Endgol, and returns to the parking lot. The hiking distance is about 3 km and the required time is about 2 hours.

□ Seosan Mongdol Beach
Hwanggeumsan Mountain in Seosan Daesan is a mongdol beach and stones formed by the stones falling off due to weathering and being cut by the seawater. You can see beautiful coastal cliffs and Mongdol Beach full of round pebbles created by erosion by waves. You can hear the sound of pebbles colliding with the waves, and you can enjoy all the rocks and beaches that touch the sea. Hwanggeumsan Mountain, famous for Mongdol Beach and Elephant Rock, is the 7th of the 9 scenic spots in Seosan.
The original name was ‘Hanggeumsan Mountain’, but it is said that the entire area where the mountain is located is collectively called ‘Hanggeum’. Compared to ‘golden’, which meant ordinary gold in the past, ‘hanggeum’ was considered noble gold. For this reason, the village scholars say that they marked it as ‘Hanggeumsan’.

□ Shrine of General Lim Gyeong-eop
Im Gyeong-eop (1594-1646) passed the military examination in the 10th year of Gwanghaegun’s reign (1618), and was evaluated as a loyalist and military commander with excellent patriotism and patriotic loyalty, along with the social atmosphere of pro-Ming and anti-Qing. He was imprisoned by Kim Ja-jeom (金自點, 1588-1651) while receiving probation in the 24th year of King Injo (1646) in connection with the rebellion of Shim Ki-won (沈器遠, 1587 – 1644). was killed
Im Gyeong-eop was a renowned general who received absolute support from the people by expressing his loyalty and cause to the Ming Dynasty and expressing his observation. However, at the same time, he is also a person of misfortune, having died in prison due to his lack of understanding of his internal and external circumstances. However, Im Gyeong-eop’s misfortune was ultimately caused by the political situation of Joseon at the time, not by his individual ability.
He joined forces with the declining Ming Dynasty to resist the Qing Dynasty and tried to wash away the national shame of the Byeongjahoran (丙子胡亂), but the situation in Joseon at the time could not support it. The people’s judgment did not make him remain as an incompetent and failed general, but rather led to a rebirth as a national hero. He settles in the hearts of the people as a symbol of loyalty, fidelity and courage. After his death, this fact can be confirmed in the creation and popular acceptance of <Im Gyeong-eop Jeon>, an ancient novel based on the heroic story of Im Gyeong-eop.
